well, Im not sure I quite agree with everything you've said here. I work
in a record store in Phoenix Arizona of all places and I must say that as
far as all electronica we have in the store goes, jungle goes the fastest
and most consistently. if the kids in the desert can get it, I dont see
why anyone else wouldn't. Secondly, haven't younoticed the hype that
surrounds Photek? All right, maybe photek isn't the epitome of jungle,
but I'd say his style is certainly on the drum and bass side of things,
and he's all over Amp on MTV just like daft punk and the chem bros. or
whoever else. He's going to do alot to break this form of music (good or
bad as that may be).
I'm not saying that jungle will go as big gangsta rap or grunge, but it
will gain a much bigger following than you seem to think it is capable
of. I'm sick of all this crap about how American's don't understand
techno/electronica. There's all this talk these days about how the kids
in america are finally getting into techno! oooh. Groups have finally
come along that are accessible enough for America. like europe is so much
more advanced musically. whatever. so prodigy hit big in europe with
their last album and not in america until this one. so what. they're
still the same. it wasn't too hard to grasp before. America catching onto
Techno and jungle and whatever else is being treated like a kid wading
into a swimming pool, not wanting the water to touch his testicles. screw
all of that. plenty of us jumped in long ago.
scott (not sure if any of this made sense, but oh well)
