Hmm I too find myself slightly perplexed.

Similar to UFO:
Silent Poets, Routine, Mondo Grosso, Nakamura, Monday Michiru all share a
loose similarity of style. Very Characteristic of Japanese Acid Jazz.

Filmesque:
Another band that did a filmic approach to their music is PRAM, they had
an album out this spring called Music for Your Movies. Not necessarily
spy oriented, but good thematic moods (GREAT female Vocalist).

Also Photek's Hidden Eye induces the filmic noir feeling... (well maybe a
different topic).
