Clothes fetch a hefty price in Japan, as you may have read somewhere before.
This is especially the case for vintage clothes and shoes even (not vintage
looking, mind you). I have a friend who has a vintage (mostly from the mid to
late '70s) sneaker collection that is easily worth a figure in the five
figures. Living in Hawaii, I've seen Japanese tourists cum brokers raid the
Goodwills, Salvation Army's, and second hand clothing shops (and also record
shops), spending thousands of dollars at a time. Of course, this goes for the
o-gyaru and ko-gyaru raiding the designer brand places as well (Gucci, Louis
Vuitton, et al.)

And, in Japan, since domestic product subsidizes their economy, the same
clothes are definitely more expensive there than here (meaning the U.S.)
