Andreas,

I have a Fender Rhodes MkI and inside along with the serial# it has 3979
marked. When I was getting it serviced the guy working on it told me this
translated to a manufacture date of September 3rd 1979. Don't know whether
this is correct or not and anyway as they were manufactured in the USA this
would probably translate to 9th March '79. Which reminds me, I may have just
missed it's 18th Birthday!

Hope this helps in some small way, and you're right - it is a lovely instrument.
