stuff I've heard

Its been a while since I've posted so here's a little bit about a lot:

Up, Bustle and Out- Light em up Blow em Out. bought this without
listening to it because they are Up Bustle and Out. I wouldn't say I
regret it but if you're are new to the group stick with their first
album "One Color Just Reflects Another". Some wicked rythms mixed in
with their usual world beat (this time slightly more Indian? than
Spanish), especially Silk Perfumes and Gold but the vocals have got to
go! over all a solid album.

Headrillaz- Cold Harbour Rock. I'd heard a couple of singles from these
guys and it was enough to make me get the full length. For a ?techno?
act, the full length holds up very well. No filler tracks, typical big
beat rockin' tunes. highly recommended if this is your type of music.

DJ Icey- Funky Breaks. this is mixed CD. I won't waste to much of your
time with it except to say I liked it. Good funky techno and of course a
good mix.

Coldcut- Let Us Play. I've heard alot of the singles before but its
still much smoother than I expected, especially after picking up the
More Beats and Pieces 12' (yuk, not my thing). There's a "Hello My Name
Is:" sticker on the console at the radio station I work for that someone
filled in "Coldcut = Jesus". God-like? no way, but still damn good. I
even enjoyed the Jello Biafra rants. Timber is really helped by the
video, otherwise it seemed a bit bland. Another stand out was Return to
Margin (with Talvin Singh).
Haven't played too much with the CD Rom, its crashed my computer a
couple of times but theres tons of interesting info and toys on it.

Sound of Infinity- Trip Hop from Outer Space. this is a comp. on the
IrmAmerica label. Mostly Italian artists, I think? Not exactly what I
think of as trip hop (but close). Very very smooth. Two gold stars for
Recycle's simplistic blunted beats on Relax and Sit Back and Skin 4's
Frequencies Flyers.

stay tuned for Howie B. Turn the Dark Off and Tha Alkaholiks
Likwidation. They're in my possension but I've yet to give them a good
listen.
other blanket generalzations that mean nothing beyond my own opinion:
Portishead rules. JK and co. bore me and Morcheeba is pretty good if
sucuidal-like. Best new purchase- Statik Sound System's Remix
Selection. Best Used- Sylk 130's Getting Into It.
