i'm buying an esi-32, and for my needs its the best deal going right now in
a sampler.
Eurosynth http://www.xmission.com/~synth has the best price i've found
($750 with 2mb ram, and the SCSI option) its a solid sampler for the price!
down the road you can upgrade to the turbo option which offers more
outputs, more filters and 24 bit effects!
it works great with Steinberg's Recycle, (hook the esi32 up to your
computer via scsi, and you have some really great creative sample/loop
editing capabilities!) --it allows you to chop up your beats, and do some
really crazy shit with them!
you'd need a keyboard -- you can get a cheap one for around $100. spend a
little more, and get something that is actually useful as something other
than a controller. (or a doorstop)
