what is it w/these east coast house remixers? both david & armand are known
for the "4 on the floor" vibe, but both did *non-house* records when they
released albums under their own name!!! armand's (as is common knowledge,
now) was a hiphop record, david's was reggae dancehall/dub!! oh well...
actually the thing that pisses me off--while everyone else is ranting, i
might as well, too--is that the dance category almost automatically means
house, although there are many dance genres...
if we u.s. recording artists are pissed off about what gets nominated, we
should do something about it by joining naras (national academy of recording
arts & sciences) as voting members. actually, engineers, producers and most
people involved in the musicmaking are eligible once they've worked on six
recordings that are availible to the public for sale. that means you can be
eligible after your 1st e.p. or album!!! if you've remixed other people's
work, that qualifies too!! i think it's about $300 to join (no, i'm not a
member, yet--i still have about 4 more recordings to go) as a voting member.
there are some cool benefits too--you get significant discounts on nominated
cds...
wouldn't it be cool to see someone like theivery corp win one year? is
there
any word on roni size/reprazent being nominated for anything?
