MTV's target market is white kids. Yo MTV Raps and more R&B hit MTV when
white kids started wanting to watch it. I'm not deliberatly trying to
bring race into it, but when you look at who MTV caters to, you'll notice
that it's among other things, white kids. If folk music became the rage
next week, we'd see Matt with a guitar and we'd hear Peter, Paul, and
Mary. As a result, I am not surprised that harder core hiphop is not on
MTV. I'm not saying that I don't know some white folks who are into 5%,
for example, but the likelihood of Jeru breaking it off and being popular
is pretty slim. What true hiphop is saying, many of MTV's target audience
doesn't know about, understand, or down with. Ima
