I guess the trick is that if you didn't belive the original hype, you'll be
able to more objectivly listen. I wouldn't say it a great album, but,
Shadow still has some tricks up his sleeve. I still like the guitar
samples he uses, and, despite my prejedices against rock guitar I've
allways liked his mixes.
Also, Shadow himself can't really belive the hype, if you listen closely to
the samples in track 2. Unkle Main Theme you'll hear a reference to "we had
too, much...money, and equipment...we went insane." I almost give the
feeling that people are jumping on the bandwagon to dis the album, hey, its
hype and James Lavelle finally put Mo'Wax on the map. And, as to DJ Vadim,
now that I think of it I could use some of the same adjatives that he used
on "Psyence Fiction" on his "USSR Construction", maybe he's just sore that
Ninja Tune couldn't give him a fiver and let him create a collective, it
could be just as interesting as UNKLE, the DJ Food of the next genereation.
So, only belive your ears and give it a shot.
