I'm sorry but I am going to have to disagree a little on this point. To
say that the gig PR stuff takes away from time to live your life detracts
from that fact that it really only takes a fraction of a second to
identify and delete it. This is not a big deal, to my view. I actually
enjoy reading about who is doing what where and when I am in that neck of
the woods I have a chance to go to some pretty good events. In an ideal
world, people would respond to posts from listers when they say they are
going to travel, but that doesn't always happen. I speak from experience.
So making your own connection list goes a long way to plugging you in to
the local scene. It is also pretty exclusionary to have a private list of
people who are given local info, unless the existence of this list is
actively promoted and maintained. I just don't know if there is a
community of people from various parts of the world that would be willing
and consistent enough to make the idea work.

That said, I think that Yvonne, you do need to cut down, if not on
the frequency of your PR posts, then the length of the cc: list. It is
such a drag to have to scroll through it all every time. I think I
am safe in the knowledge that I speak for many of those in the NY area
that receive the multiple copies of it that you send out! Perhaps
you could make use of the bcc: field in your message header ...

peace,
bijan
