I think that his two strongest records are Shakara and Upside Down.

But if you can swing it, I definitely recommend getting a whole box set.

also, check out allmusic.com for a summary of his discography.

folks,

I'm wanting to take advantage of all the great Fela stuff that they
currently have on offer at Dusty Groove, but I'm just not sure where to
start. So, which albums would people recommend to someone who hasn't heard
a whole lot of Fela stuff before? I'm curious to see if a consensus
emerges that might be useful before I spend the meagre loot that I have
available! And I guess if everyone suggests something different, maybe it
means that I can't go wrong no matter which album I choose....

Ta, and hope everyone has a good weekend...
Kurt

PS T, thanks for the words about the Cassandra Wilson Miles thing ... I
love her stuff usually, but a couple of folks dogged it a coupla weeks back
so I've been wavering a bit. Am I right in thinking that she puts vocals
to 'Hannibal' from the Amandla album ... and if so, what's this like?
