This week’s new releases and restocks are now posted on our website
(www.groovedis.com). A lot of good house this week (and we’re having a sale
on a bunch of French house singles, too), a couple of good acid jazz and hip
hop cuts and that’s about it. Not much drum & bass and very little nu skool
breaks/big beat. Things are starting to wind down and there won’t be many
more new releases before the new year.
Groove will be closed from Fri Dec. 24 until Mon, Jan. 3 (including Sundays
Dec. 26 and Jan. 2).
The highlights this week (12/06/99) are:
Acid Jazz/Trip Hop: we have negotiated a new lower price for the excellent
Aim CD—anyone who hasn’t picked up yet should definitely grab it, new Brand
New Heavies single featuring new vocalist Carleen Anderson—it’s a cover of
the classic “Apparently Nothin” a track Carleen originally sang with the
Young Disciples, new Chris Joss LP from France’s Pulp Flavour—anyone who
picked up the “Bombay By Bus” single will want this album of Sitar flavoured
trip hop, a new Jamiroquai single, a limited edition 7” from Ursula 1000
(pals of the Thievery Corp) and a new Mind Horizons EP.
Hip Hop: tripped out instrumental hip hop from DJ P (now reportedly livin’
in the UK), K. Delight drops an EP of hip hop beats on the Ruf Beats label
(home of Jeep Beat Collective), some limited promos of the new Ninety 9 jazz
hop single “Willow”, and we have restocks on last week’s doper than dope new
Blackalicious album “Nia” (including a few more copies of the limited triple
LP version).
House: new Brand New Heavies single (see above for details), new Paper 12”
by BSO member Uschi Classen, Fazed Idjuts 12” (a collaboration between Fazed
Action and the Idjut Boys and remixed by Joe Claussel), new Demon 12” (who
last brought us the Joe Pesci sampling “Lil Fuck” single), new Nick Holder
single on NRK, a new limited edition Kenny Dope 7” single (a taster for his
BBE album due out next year), Taxi Driver on Estereo remixed by People’s
Restless Soul, Tiny Trendies on Nuphonic with new Swag remix, and a new
single from France’s Truxton.
Nu Skool Breaks: new single on Loaded by Leuroj remixed by Bushwacka and two
new singles on Smile.
And don’t forget the cool new Pro-Sac Record Bags. The Pro-Sac is the new
King Of The Record Bags. Available in black and VERY limited silver, navy
blue, and olive green.
