Senior in high school, driving home from taking the
SATs, (big standarized test you take before college),
just breaking in my new Doc Martens, ramming my trusty
blue Subaru into 4th, sun shining, windows down,
whipping around freshly paved roads in Amish country,
the smell of hay and just a tinge of manure for good
measure, blasting The Cure, basking in the adorable
way Menonite people hang their laundry to dry
(littlest garment to bigggest, color-coded if
possible), rejoicing that in a month I'd be legal, and
in 4 months I'd be free, in a new city, no parents, no
nuns, no curphews, no money....oh well. =)
