Acid Jazz-philes,

Isn't it also insulting to assume that only a segment of the population
makes R&B music? I say let's bring Teena Marie out of retirement and let
her be the greatest Torchlight Slow Jams Singer she always was but it would
also be nice if she would incorporate Downtempo Acid Jazz into her music.
Just a thought. Who qualifies as Nouveau Soul?

dear list: I hated the latest issue of Urb "the future issue" .The most
Insulted part was the part about R and b music .The notion that new soul can
be made by including jungle and techno influences. I imagine black people
thinkig"Is the girl crazy" ? R and B is the music that consistently has to
marry innovation and mass appeal with formualic production and
mechanization. Given the constraints these guys operate under they have
quite a job . The future of soul isnt some four four stuff though im sure
this is some place for it. Im also tiredd of hearing about the detroit crew
of techno inventors. Gee they are in every other issue > i liked Big fun but
hey it was a while ago.
