yo list

just heard frederic galliano's 'electronic sextet' cd on f communications.
if you haven't heard (of) this cd it is a live recording of african
inspired (mostly) instrumentals with some live fx by fred. it's sort of
thematic, the tracks don't differ greatly apart from a spoken / chanted
vocal & vibes track towards the end, it takes its time to get going,
(no instant gratification here) and listening to it in its entirety
when you're in the mood for something a little deep really does give you
the sense that you're listening to something *happening*. nice.

does this type of music (original, creative, might appeal to open minded
folks, could also include things *like* innerzone or cinematic orchestra,
to mention just a couple of other recent releases) have any kind of
profile or appreciation? does it even get heard unless you go looking for
it? i live in a city in australia that has no scene in terms of
radio, clubs, cool stores, street press etc etc but i'd really like to
know what it's like in other parts of the world especially europe or the
states. how many copies do these kind of releases sell?

i probably haven't expressed this as well as i could but hope you
get the idea
