I find it ironic that you two consider Les Nubians to be too
commercial (whatever that means). During the interview, they
leveled a similar criticism toward MC Solaar's more recent
works. "Too pop," they said although they really liked his
earlier works. Anyway, being able to say something like that
would imply to me that they do not consider themselves to be
'commercial'.
I really don't like this criticism no matter who says it. It
doesn't tell me in musical terms what was wrong. Just what
does it mean to sound 'commercial'?
( for the record )
I don't have the album w/ me, but I bought it for my little
cousin for Christmas (nevermind that I'm not Christian ;-).
I listened to it a lot at her place before I had to come
back to work. I liked the CD (especially "Makeda"), and I
know I'm not the only one.
