>>>Hi All,

So my question is:

Why soldiers? Why are christians so violent? <<<

Hi Joy
I don't think "Christians" are more violent than anyone else. Humanity is
violent. The teachings of Jesus are non-violent in the extreme, and more
adherence to those teachings would make us a much less violent culture.

Give me the earplugs!

That's not a very open minded attitude. I haven't heard it either, but your
comments are kind of prejudicial, don't you think? And, even though I
haven't heard it, I'll bet dollars to donuts that this joint is a lot less
violent than Snoop, Ice Cube, Ice T or even Eminem!

>>>"Your god is dead and no one cares, if there is a hell I'll see you
there"<<<

Hey, I don't think the AJ forum is a place to discuss religion, let alone to
sling invectives at those of us who ARE Christians and dig the music. But
still, you've got to straight up recognize. Love it or hate it, a lot of the
world's best music was inspired by Christianity, from J.S. Bach's "Passion
in B Minor" to Duke Ellington's "Black, Brown, and Beige," even Lauren
Hill's latest is "hip hop meets scripture, turning the negative into a
positive picture."

And one final point. Even though I'm a Christian, the music has made me
sensitive to a lot of different cultures and beliefs. I certainly wouldn't
trash west-African religion or culture (voodoo) in light of the incredible
music that is produced there. I disagree with the philosophy, but respect is
in order all 'round, and those drummers are surely funky.

There's my .02,

peace and love
Steve
