Hello my name is Santiago Cevallos ,and I am new to the list. I had the
pleasure of doing the sound for the Funkstoerung party here in Miami last
night. It was in a art gallery cafe in Coral Gables called Mezza. The party
started of with Cookie headz (local). Really good set, played some
downtempo, electro, experimental. The highlight of his set I think was when
he was throwing a cookie monster record over RUN DMC's Peter piper
instrumental. Then one of the Beta Bodega DJ's Ghyger Kounter went on. Also
enjoyed his set. He mixed hip hop, old skool house, and I definately heard
him throw in some Miles Davis, and also heard him throw in the Close
Encounters of the Third Kind soundtrack in there, while he fucked with the
pitch control. Then Haviken Hayes from Chocolate Industries went on. He spun
hip hop, with some experimental shit. Along side with him MCing was another
local
hero Mc HI-Fi. Then Push Button Objects went on. He didn't do a live P.A.,
he actually spun. He played some old skool electro, freestyle, and Miami
Bass. Right after him Phoenecia did a live P.A., real wicked they rocked it
up. They played for about a half hour. Then a battle DJ went on. I don't
know what his name is, cause he was not on the flyer. Then Funkstoerung went
on. Actually Chris De Luca spun for about half an hour. He spun some PBO,
some of his stuff, and some other shit that looked like dub plates. Then he
got off the decks and
they performed live. They were insane. They totally had the crowd in it.
Then to close off the night Chocolate Industries own Seven and Plot spun
some old Autechre, and Aphex Twin(SAW). This was definately one of the best
parties down here in a while. The good thing is that we got the whole night
on DAT, and also video taped. Funkstoerung was pretty cool about us taping
them. I thought they would mind, but they turned out to be good guys. The
only problem is that there is this nasty feedback, onsome parts of the
Funkstoerung set, so we are going to run it through Pro Tools and see if we
can fix it. So, as soon as it's fixed we will be happy to send copies on
regular cassettes. We will only send cassettes, because digital copies are
reserved for limited people. Not to be a dick or anything, but there are so
many dirty bootleggers out there. So whoever wants a copy just send me
hollar, but also give me some time to clean it up and dump it on cassette.
I am also resident at Beat Camp here in Miami. Beat Camp is a Drum and
Bass night where downstairs resident's Marco, Tea Farmer, Grrl13, Day,And
Ken spin the best in Drum and Bass. Upstairs me (Tamber) and my boy Red-C,
and occasionally Dj PFC (Pedro Cevallos), spin downtempo, acid jazz,
electro, exprerimental hip hop, and ambient. So if any of you will be down
here, swing on by. Look for my weekly play list here.
Peace out from sunny South Florida,
Santiago Cevallos (Tamber)
P.S. August 5th, is the Metalheadz party, with Doc Scott and MC Justyc
