imac? g3?

Folks,

While we're on a tech-type thread. . .

I was wondering if Mac-using musicians on the Web have a preference
between the iMac and the PowerMac G3 for MIDI and audio-related work. I
want to be able to use software such as StudioVision and Recyle to
manipulate audio files, with my Akai s2000. Is the iMac powerful enough
to handle the stuff, and does it have the appropriate peripherals? (I
hope so, for my budget's sake!)

I apologize for the un-relevant thread; you can reply privately to avoid
clogging people's mailboxes.
