Well, considering the iMac is probably faster than most computers out there
is should be fine. You'll need to look for a USB/MIDI interface between
the Akai and the Mac--I know Mark Of The Unicorn makes a USB-MIDI box, and
there are some others (since it's also become a standard on Wintel machines
there should be a fare selection.) Though a G3 with a SCSI card would
would best for manipulating audio files for the Akai (MIDI is better for
making the Mac control the S2000.) Akai also makes a MESA program that can
be used to catalog and manipulate your files. (I've got a MPC2000, but,
haven't ventured too far--just downloaded sounds so far, and done direct
sampling.)
