There's been some discussion about this, but IMHO, I accept the Gilles Peterson
theory, even if it wasn't true. It makes for good folklore anyway. Besides,
Peterson is pretty much the "Father of Acid Jazz" whether he actually coined the
term or not. Based on what's talked about on this list, and coincidentally or
not, anything that gets Gilles Petersons' musical seal of approval becomes "Acid
Jazz." People like, say, Basement Jaxx are not outright "Acid Jazz," but because
of his affiliation, support and appreciation for their music, it becomes Acid Jazz.
