NEW CLUB...NEW PLAYERS
JUKEJOINT
at THE ESPLANADE BIER MARKT
Friday and Saturday September 24 and 25
58 The Esplanade (416-862-7575)
$3.00 cover charge (man, that's cheap!)
100 Beers ON TAP!!
The noises from 58 The Esplanade are no longer the haunting, ear
bleeding sounds of a room sized organ complete with sirens, bells drums
and horns. That's right Toronto's infamous pizza house "The Organ
Grinder" has been gutted and filled with BEER! Not only does the new
ESPLANADE BIER MARKT serve up one hundred types of beer on tap, but it
also dishes out heaps of tunage from some of Toronto's finest bands.
The weekend of Fri. Sept. 24 and Sat. Sept. 25 sees local groove dudes
JUKEJOINT filling the house with their jazz infected funk. In
celebration of the new music locale, Jukejoint is bringing in new and
guest musicians to sit in and groove out. Those in attendance will hear
not only the core guitar, bass, keys and drums; but also trumpet, sax
and guest keys. Jukejoint will be pullimg out some of their older tunes
as well as some new ones for this two night stand
Jukejoint will perform three 45 minute sets starting at 9:45 PM, 11:00
PM and 12:15 AM.
Their is a meager $3.00 COVER CHARGE at this spacious venue.
Jukejoint is a collective of jazz influenced musicians, who incorporate
elements such as funk, blues, hip hop and drum ní bass, into a spicy
grooving gumbo. They have been featured at such festivals as The
Montreal Jazz Festival, JazzCity Jazz Festival (in Edmonton) and The
DuíMaurier Downtown Jazz Festival, to mention but a few. Last summer, an
entire Jukejoint performance was simulcast live on Quebecís television
music network, MuisquePlus; as well, the CBC recorded and broadcast
their performance at The Ottawa Jazz Festival. Their debut CD ìChoose
To Grooveî is continuing to sell well across all of Canada.
ìExuding cool like an open fridge, Jukejoint was in total command of the
audience...Jukejoint is now so far beyond jazz/funk as to be a genre
unto
itself. It rarely fails to impress."
