I'm sorry to hear that you feel alienated.
I guess I just see things from a different perspective.
My husband is a fairly well known regional dj and they've been
nothing but incredible towards him. He cuts alot of their tracks
and they are friendly to both of us. So not everyone has been alienated.

I think the whole "buzzsaw" issue has alot to do with preference. Preference is still no excuse to bash something you yourself don't get into. I love their ruff style. It makes me think and my body loves to move to it. It's not for everyone.

I find that many of their beat patterns are much different than anything coming out of the UK. Also the bass is usually much
much deeper and the percussion much more sharper. Overall I
feel the sounds they use are much more creative and different.
You can't compare acid jazz & drum n bass of course...they are completely different.

In my opinion, U.S. DnB dj's get the shaft when it comes to the availability of UK tracks. Tracks distributed/made there don't usually
become available here for what seems to be up to 2 years at times.
So they look within to create something new and work hard to produce only to be generalized as "UK wanna be's". Double edged sword, if you will.

    ...

Elson, I would be interested in hearing some of your tracks.
Would you mind sending me a tape? I promise not to hold our
    differences against you. =)

    With Respect,
    Shell
p.s. Check out Abstract from CA...he's more downtempo and melodic.
