I do know these guys and apologize for them, I don't even send my own DJ
schedule to the list anymore because of spam backlash. I'll write a simple
note as well as speak with those guys to remove the acid-jazz mailing list
address from their listings which seems to go out several times weekly.
Note: The "Ladies Night" promotion is something that is as old as my 31 years
-- it simply started as a way for promoters to get more women to come to
their parties by discounting admission or offering free drinks, a flower or
something like that. My Mom went to "Ladies Nights" with my aunts when I was
little. Mostly a phenomenon of African-American parties from the 60's. I can
understand how referring to a woman as a "lady" in our contemporay society
could rub someone the wrong way, but the "Ladies Night" theme was always a
celebratory one.
I'm still here although I don't contribute much recently...still DJing around
New York on the regular, occasionally a Giant Step gig, DJing in the UK with
the Rae & Christian family...Erik, will be in Sweden to play in 2001 probably
with someone from the Rae & Christian camp.
Below in my e-mail signature is my 800 number for gig info and message
leaving so if anyone on the list gets to New York scribble it down call it
and you'll find me.

What secret is there in music which attracts all those who listen to it? It
is the rhythm which is created. It is the tone of that music which tunes the
soul, and raises it above the depression and despair of everyday life in this
world. If one knew what rhythm is needed for a particular individual in his
trouble and despair, what tone is needed, and to what tone that person's soul
should be raised, then one could heal a
person with music.
