    hi there!

/. lately i have been listening to the Jazzanova Remixes a lot, no, a LOT, it really has my nod for one of the albums of the year, i know that it has been talked about here but, for anyone who might have missed out, get this asap!

/. there's a new Rae and Christian album called "Sleepwalking", the other album that i have, Northern Sulphuric Soul, has got some stunners on it but this new one is also way up there in my humble opinion, there's a beautiful Bobby Womack song on it called "Get A Life" along with another Womack song, some nice Pharcyde appearances, Tania Maria, Kate Rogers and the Congos on one track each and a couple of strong tracks from just Rae and Christian alone and one of them "Ready To Roll" is really HOT from the sofa and from the dancefloor this piece just shreds, please do yourself a favour, especially if you are a deejay and give this a spin.

/. Troublemakers, who appear to be a French combine have put out a disc called "Doubts and Convictions" that has some very funky tracks. i think that almost everyone who subscribes to this list would find some appealing sounds on this disc and going to www.33RPM.com will tell you some more!

/. Because i spin a lot of world music on my radio show, (The Power of Sound, www.KAZU.org Tuesday, Wednesdayand Thursday evening from 8 - 10 pm PST) i am always looking for discs that carry some global hallmarks while covering many of the jazzy and electronic influences that i love so much. "Global Dance" is an interesting compilation put out by Rough Guides for anyone looking for music that spans cultural boundaries and reaches for dancing space. This album has a Tosca track - Boss on the Boat, Sidestepper, Jephte Guillaume doing The Prayer (which i have on other comps!), there is a Suba song, Jazzanova doing "Caravelle", Tony Allen, Smadj, TJ Rehmi and others, it's a disc well worth considering.

/. Guidance have put out a new Hi-Fidelity Lounge album sub-titled Volume two:licensed to chill. it's a comp that covers some ground already visited but i love the selection overall, any invitation to chill sounds like a good one to me and having a readymade soundtrack for the experience is sometimes wonderful. Speaking of that, if there are those of you out there who love the psychedelic experience, (who knows there just might be one or two of you out there!) then i would urge a listen to Shpongle on a disc called "Are You Shpongled?" on Twisted Records as a musical element of your experience, it has some amazing sounds and interesting rhythms and it certainly qualifies as being psychedelic music.

/. DJ Morpheus, he of the amazing Freezone series on SSR/Crammed discs has a good one out called "In My Bag" and it more or less covers some of the stuff he is playing currently in his sets. there are a couple of selections that i might not have taken, but i stand in deference to Morpheus who happens to be a friend of mine, this man has an encyclopaedic knowledge of music and his taste is a defining feature of his work.

/. If you love percussion as i do, please have a listen to the Bob Holroyd album "A Different Space", while it almost veers into "New Age" territory, it maintains well and has some very spacey but also very danceable tracks on it. Holroyd has been remixed by people like Loop Guru with good results for his heavy on the percussion music.

/. A new Glucklich album number IV, has fallen into my hands and i have just started to listen to it! I have to say that what I have heard on the first and second runs already appelas to me, the album starts of with Minus B doing a track called "Elysian Fields" that is an ethereal beginning to this album. if you know the series then you know that these comps ride the Afro-Cuban-Brazilian wave and they skirt a variety of other boundaries as well. i like what i am hearing!

hope i did not bore anyone by writing this relatively long missive, but i wanted to share those with the list!
