I had long loved Amel Larrieux not only for her beauty but wonderful voice
while in Groove Theory. But as much as i liked her, i never bought that
album. The music was definitely fresh but for some reason I nver got a feel
from her as an artist. I almost felt as if she was like a sort of window
dressing, just a pretty voice but no artistic soul. (Kinda like how I felt
about Tamia, Quincy Jones' find).
With "Infinite Possibilities", she shows that there's nothing but diva
inside that soft spoken body. With this album you readily see that she takes
complete control of her vocal performance and dares to push the envelope as
far as range of style. There are only two songs that although are good, I
can now fast forward through them cause I've heard them enough (there also
the 2 slowest songs): "Even If", and "Make Me Whole"
As for the rest, all the beats are phat! I only wish that she would have
released this closer to the summer so i can have it pumping out of my
windows as I drive round.
Definitely cop this one if you already haven't. And by the way, her live
show is just as tight. (Big shout to all those who went to the Supper Club
in NYC last week in!)
