This is a fun thread.

Not sure when I actually got in to acid jazz, but I know I owned the BNH CD back in the early 90s before I really knew what it was all about. In fact, I thought the BNH CD was slightly weak when I bought it - pop funk is what I thought (I like it much better now). I think the first few things that really got me into acid jazz were the Acid Jazz Totally Wired comps that were recompiled and packaged here in the States by Instinct (under the This Is Acid Jazz series). Volumes 1 and 2 were probably the catalyst for my AJ binges over the years. The first band that really knocked my AJ socks off was the United Future Organization. The band that has kept my attention for the longest time...The Greyboy Allstars/Robert Walter's 20th Congress/Karl Denson's Tiny Universe.

I know its not all that glamorous of a story, but hey - it's reality.

Been quietly on the list for years, dropped off for 6 months about 4-5 years ago when the entire discussion revolved around the Beastie Boys. Love the content of discussions now. You people have turned me on to some great tunes (off the record - some crap too)!

Word.
