I recently started reading TECHNO REBELS by Dan Sicko. The story of
detroit's contribution to the electronic music movement. I haven't finished
it yet, but I give it a thumbs up. It's not overly analytical, anecdotal is
a better description, but it does a good job of tracing the lines to and
from the birth of techno. It really underlines the funk that went into the
music in the beginning. If anything it's giving me new respect for the 80s,
a decade I was born to hate.
