Pick of the Week: the wicked 'Kingsize Dub Vol. 6' compilation out on
Germany's Echo Beach label. This was just what the doctor ordered the day
after Smith & Mighty rocked our night (and early morning) away - mere hours
before I came in for this show in fact. Smith & Mighty are actually found
here, as is T.O.'s own Watershell and so many other bass-lovin'
contemporary dub artists. Ranging from the roots & purist vibe to more
electronic and experimental approaches, this compilation is guaranteed to
shake those bass bins while putting smiles on faces. Judging by the amount
of calls that came in inquiring about this one, a few of you were smiling
away out there as well.

Pick of the Week: Though I only managed to squeeze in one track from
Marschmellows' fun 'n funky 'Swat' (out on the always-on-point INFRAcom!
label), I couldn't stop talking about it. The beats and breaks are
phuuuunky; reggae and pop music are two clear influences, and the many
featured vocalists add a whole new layer of 'oomph' to the already-rockin'
Marschmellows sound. Listen up for more selections in coming weeks. Hear it
and you too will be dancing 'round your living room.
Thunderball were also heavily featured, in honour of their July 22nd gig at
B-Side. Tickets for this show, and a number of others, were snapped up
lickety split throughout the programme, proving once again that speed dial
is the way to go. This is how we flowed...
