That said, I agree wholeheartedly with your description of the Acid
Jazz aesthetic, but what kills me about Peshay, Bukem and the lot is
not that my conception of "pure jazz" is insulted, but that I feel
the way they are doing things is "lightweight" in the same way that I
    regard Kenny G as lightweight...

I don't think Jazz needs to be clinically defined - it's so broad. We
can certainly decide what's good or bad jazz however :) Bukem's stuff
just doesn't give me what I want out of a jazz / drum'n'bass hybrid.

As far as jazz / drum'n'bass that works for me.... Hmmmm :)
Most of the scene is modeled after what Bukem did in the early
nineties, he truly set the pace for the whole genre. Most of the
stuff that I dig that could be considered drum'n'bass is somehow
related to the Reinforced label. The first Procedure 769 record, but
for that one, the jazz is really in the drums. The Jacob's Optical
Stairway album has some very good jazz elements. The 4-hero remix of
"I've known rivers", played by Courtney Pine. Some of the Roni Size /
Reprazent stuff is wonderful. Plenty of other good 4 hero remixes ...
    :)

If you're looking for more broad (not just d'n'b), the lists Argo and
    Derek posted are great...
I think what is happening now musically is incredible, there is so
much soulful, jazzy, groovy dance / electronic stuff coming up from
    the woodwork. Very inspiring...

    Cheers,
