Ditto on Cabbageboy, that's one of the most wack/weirded-out records Ninja
has released in ages...samples of Oprah Winfrey, some guy freestyling about
snack foods ("oreos, fritos, doritos, tostitos..."), and some dirty
low-slung trip hop breaks with panning fx that do your head in. Same
tongue-in-cheek strange sampladelic sense that Luke Vibert's "Big Soup" LP
had, if you dug that you'll prolly like Cabbageboy as well. Stoner hop.
As far as Freezone 6 - the Alex Gopher track on there with the vocoder is
especially dope, only track of his I've ever liked! Too bad it's exclusive
to the comp. only, can't see shelling out $25-30 for the one track. Re:
Isolee - I don't remember what track was on the Freezone comp, but you might
also want to look for the remixes of their "Beau Mot Plage" track, it's a
12" on Classic with the Heaven and Earth re-edit and a DJ Q remix on it.
The Heaven and Earth re-edit is the best house (if you can call it that!)
track I've bought in forever, quirky pop-click off-kilter percussion that
you can still lay in a 4/4 set with these lushlushlush melodies and
dubbed-out fx. I've played this for people who proclaim a vehement hatred
for house music and they dig it every time, goes down a storm wherever you
play it. There's also a new "Freeform Five" remix of this track just out on
another 12" on Classic also with a live jazz band over the top, but the
original and Heaven and Earth mix sound better to my ears. Worth picking up
if you're looking for innovative house music and dig stuff like Herbert,
etc. FYI...

Speaking of which - if anybody knows of a source or wants to sell/trade a
copy of "Remilixir" - lemme know. Been looking for this for a while...Brock
