Well, there is a deeper connection actually.
Kid Loco is far from being a kid. His first incarnation was artist manager
of the very influential French label Bondage Records in the early artist.
He wwas very involved with the band _Les beruriers noirs_ (French punk
rock).
La Mano Negra was part of the same scene, but their sound was more mixed (a
lot of Spanish influence), and they were supported by the Omnipotent Virgin
label in France, which allowed them to escape the cult indie status to recah
megastardom in French high schools.
Now Manu Chao survived the hype and reinvented himslf in 1998 with the
hugely succesful _Clandestino_. Kid Loco did some albums in the late
eighties early nineties, drifting away from the rock sound, before releasing
the excellent _A Grand Love story_...
Kid loco's roots in the alternative world , can explain his negative
attitide towards Air (who come from the neighbourhood of Versailles).
I personnaly find this whole argument pointless (As a proof, refer to the
Air DVD _Eating sleeping..._ to have examples of the schizophrenic attitude
of the French musical establishment towards Air, whom I admire as people and
musicians...
