    hey AJers,

well i thought Lamb was pretty cool on summerstage in the park, but i don't
know if you can call the electronics guy a "DJ" persay. He was doing alot
of interesting stuff using samples and, ya gotta admitt, the way he was
tweaking different sounds, especially her vocals, using the board was cool.
Although I wasen't completely blown away, the mind blowing qualities would
have been much better had we been in a club where the sound really had a
    chance to resonate.

as for recent use of DJ's in or w/ other forms of music I'm kinda
disappointed in the recent rock/hip-hop groups. what i think works best,
for my ears, is jazz and beats. Trumpet, flute, piano...these can all work
well w/ the DJ. Drummers may have a harder time fitting in to this
scenario, but still, w/ the right attitude this can work. I'm not sure how
much of St. Germain or Cinematic Orchestra are live or live samples but
these two groups, especially Cinematic Orchestra, are representitive of the
kind of sounds that i think work particularly well together.

    aaaanyway...

    joni
