hey,
i've got a gig out in santa monica at 14 below (corner of 14th st &
santa monica bl. 310.451.5040). this is my 1st time there, so i'm
trying to impress them w/my drawing power, yadda yadda...
if you've never been to this spot before, it's usually a live band
venue--do not be put off however, they have featured wonderful groups
like butterflow, pmjq (my old band--insert joke here) & solsonics. as a
matter of fact, i'd like to feed them a few bands in the
funk/jazz/whatever vibe. if this describes you, or someone you know,
let me know whassup so i can hook the band/performer up!! this night
though, i think they got a "last minute" fill-in--unfortunately, a rock
band.
i'm supposed to spin during their break and (if there's enough people
left) finish off the night. what i would like to do is have everyone
that doesn't want to hang out during the band come around 11 or 11:15 so
that there will be a crowd of people there for me to play for--plus i
make more money if i play another set! if this night goes well, i'll be
there on the regular--with funkier bands i'm sure--and i may be able to
bargain for my own dj night.
