I was in Seattle last week for a little getaway. I picked up the local
weekly paper (well in this case, it was the Seattle Weekly) and found
that MJ Cole was going to do a gig at a club called EGO, which was
around Broadway and Pike. He was set to perform the next night (Friday
    March 30).

Having never been to a DJ gig before, I've decided to take a chance and
go. I had no intention on dancing that night. All I wanted to do was
observe and envelop myself in the atmosphere.

I apparently arrived a bit early, but it was good just to sit and look
around at the place. I have to say that it looks like a rather nice
place for a dance club. Then again, I don't relaly have much to compare
it with (except sorry bars that turn into clubs with smaller-than-small
dance floors and crapola DJs with equally crapola music). The floor was
empty for awhile, then DJ Eva started opening things up. She seemed
quite adept in her musical abilities. Still, few were out on the dance
    floor.

Then about 45 minutes later, MJ Cole took the comm...and things started
blazing from there. The promoter told me that he usually puts on
two-hour sets. This guy went on for an amazing 3 1/2 hours! He owned
everyone on the floor with all of the uptempo 2-step music, showing
people what it's all about. It was just absolutely amazing how he never
relent on the energy and vibes that he was putting out. It was as if he
started radiating energy and then maintaining the tempo/mood/ambiance of
    it all.

I don't really have any other gigs to compare it to, since I've never
vnetured into such places before. But I'm certain now to raid other gigs
in L.A. and S.F. a bit more. I have the fever, and I don't want the
cure. :-) I was moving in my chair all night long and could not stop.
Still, I don't have any regrets about not going on the dance floor that
night. At least it gave me a good chance to observe it all--the
atmosphere, the gusy and gals, MJ Cole, and all of this while taking in
    the music.

I am most hungry for more prime club nights. I miss Beatless in L.A.,
damnit....but will try and do one of Ubiquity's nights soon.

By the way, is there a website with comprehensive info on U.S. club
    dates? I'd appreciate it greatly.

    Peace,
    V.
