Haven't heard Herbert, but boy am I loving my new
Nathan Haines "Sound Travels" full length. It's very
much quenching my jazz thirst. Lots of styles on
here, incl Koop or Fertile Ground-like sweet vocal
jazz, a little shiki, some deep dub, one disposable
house track, basically the same diversity as St.
Germain, and very thick with jazz. Well it is jazz.
I want to punch the pretentious wanker who wrote that
"kind of blah" article that someone posted here the
other day. post jazz? what the hell is that? so unless
something imitates the very beginning stages of its
own history ad infinitum like a cannibal, it doesn't
get to call itself by that name? Piss off, then
listen to this record, then hang your head in shame,
oh silly author. That is the kind of pedantry up with
which *I* shall not put!
