RES. In her album liner notes and press photos she's usually posing in
areas with Chinese wriitng (China Town) on stores, clothes and colors
reflecting a Chinese aesthetic, and holding a Chinese fan with
characters written in a rainbow sayin...(don't remember). Anyone know

"(...) Beady Belle has hardly been out of my CD player since I acquired
it
(...) this Oslo based duo has alchemised the disparate elements of pop,
acid jazz, soul, dance and new age music into a unique, ineffable whole.
The end result is a intoxicating concoction of grooves and moods that
moves both the body and mind. The focal point of the duo's music is the
sinuous, expressive vocals of Beate Lech, who as well as posessing a
gift for contriving infectious melodies and memorable hook lines, writes
enigmatic lyrics that verge on the poetical with their use of oblique
metaphors and disturbing imagery. (...) Reksjø invents some wonderfully
fluid rhythm tracks bolstered by sinewy bass lines and unusual
instrumentation. (...) Highly addictive and strongly recomanded."

"No, the fact is, Western pop is the fast food of music, and there is
more
exciting creative music making going on outside the Western pop
tradition
than inside it. To restrict your listening to English-language pop is
like
deciding to eat the same meal for the rest of your life. The
'no-surprise
surprise,' as the Holiday Inn advertisement claims, is reassuring, I
guess,
but lacks kick. "
