Nice to read Sheila Chandra's name popping up on this list, and I'm sure we could find a musical connection strong enough to justify if need be ;-)
I haven't heard her latest album, but do have many of her releases and, after years of listening, it's still her older 'Roots and Wings' album that stands out for me. Gorgeous. Also, for some fun, try and track down the album she did as part of the band/project Monsoon. Their song "Ever So Lonely" was a big community radio hit in the later '80s and still holds up to my ears.
Monsoon was one of the earliest pop/dance/South Asian projects to cross over (certainly helped to open my ears and curiousity up) and I suspect that a number of listees out there own the record and could sing it to this day. Am I right list?
