Ha! That last part is certainly true. The sad thing is that these small
labels we all love so much are just barely getting by on a wing and a
prayer. If this is really what you want to do for a living, Joni, you might
consider starting your own promotions business and try working with some of
the smaller labels on a contract basis, one or two releases at a time. And
if you do that, you can probably find work with labels located all around
the country, not just in New York.
Last time I checked, Palm Pictures promotions were all handled via the
Rykodisc office in Boston. But that's been a year or so ago.
