not to be a pessimist, but i read the description to every part of this
series, and, being a pretty serious jazz head, honestly expect the worst.
it looks like mr. burns decided to spend a grand total of two hours on
jazz from 1961-present, as opposed to entire probably 8-10 hours on louis
armstrong alone. not to disrespect his music ... but i didn't see any
mention of coltrane, ornette, cecil taylor, sun ra, very little mention
of thelonious, mingus,
parker, etc., so i think this one is going to be a little lopsided ..
two hours for the most intense forty years of jazz?? i'm going to have to
see it ...
