    in mexico ( i know, nobody asked, but well. . .) . . .

we used to have a government TV system, but it got sold a few years ago in
what has now been known to be a huge fraud, to a private company . . .

still, at least in mexico city, we have four independent tv stations and
two of them are non-commercial. one of them is government funded through
the national council for arts and culture, but it is uhf and most people
still own vhf-only tv sets, plus if you have mutlivision cable, you cannot
watch it. in any case, it is pretty good. half national, half imported
shows. the imported shows come from bbc, pbs and the like and are all very
outdated (which becomes very funny in shows like technology news and the
like), because it takes a while for them to be subtitled. But thei
national programming is very good . . as are the movies! Excellent
international film, uncut. The other one is owned by the National
Polythecnic Institute and it is more science and technology based, but
    both are great!
