Scroll down for what's currently spinning on turntables.
(well, there's some cd's in there, too)

Hey, I really liked this album on the new Nutone label.
They've also just released Badmarsh and Shri's 'Signs',
which is another beautiful album.

Could I get more info on these releases?

A while back, someone stole my copy! I only just replaced
it. Classic soul, definately.
On my decks recently...
* Spacek; Curvatia and Zero 7; Simple Things
* Curtis Mayfield; Superfly (I just found a cheap copy in
good condition with the original die-cut gatefold cover -
sweet!)
* Mint Royale; On the Ropes - Super groovy first track, and
'show me' with Pos of De La Soul is nice, kind of
Likufanele meets funk meets, well, De La Soul.
* Om Lounge 5 - right up there along with 2 as one of my
favourites of the series.
* Quango Presents Cosmic Funk - Nice primer on some
slightly older broken beat stuff
* MJ Cole; most of his two step remix back catalogue,
especially his mix of Goldie's Timeless. And while we're
talkin' two-step, I can't seem to get Artful Dodger's Woman
Troubles, and Zed Bias' Neighbourhood out of my head.
On the house tip,
* The Rurals; Farmyard Flavours - nice deep house flavour.
* Dennis Ferrer; Funu 12" - Just picked this up on the
weekend. Nice afrobeat/tribal house. Kind of like some of
the Femi Kuti remixes.
* Gavin Froome; Disco Specialty - the A-side's a bit
tech-housey, but the B has a really groovy, keyboard driven
number (feeling out), and nicely chilled downtempo track
(bocce)
On the Hip hop tip recently,
* M-Boogie; Laid In Full Vol. 2 - has a killer funny What?
What? track, as well as some solid underground hip hop.
* K-Otix; CPR 12" I think their full length is out now.
If you haven't heard of this texas-based trio, I highly
recommend checking them out.
* MF Doom; Operation Doomsday - "sounds as though it was
created by a crazy professor far from civilization deep in
a secret lab. Doom’s production is not only
unconventional, but gritty and static-filled. “Tick, Tick”
for example, which features fellow scarred rapper MF Grimm,
has a beat which constantly speeds up and slows down and
features a string section which was probably lifted from a
60’s era Spiderman cartoon. On other tracks, Doom revisits
Sade songs (the album’s title track borrows heavily from
“Kiss of Life”) and Stevie Wonder-ish keyboard riffs
(“Rhymes like Dimes”) for heartfelt melodies. Meanwhile,
Doom’s rapping style seems to fall somewhere between Greg
Nice and a heavily drugged Ghostface Killah or a sedated
Ol’ Dirty Bastard. Despite the drawl, MF Doom spits out
intelligent rhymes (I memorize/Like Iomega Zip drives) with
clever pop reference, which unlike many of today’s new
breed of rappers, reach more than few years back in our
collective memories (...On a day off like Ferris...).
Name-checked in this year’s URB’s Next 100 as an “aging
b-boy”, MF Doom brings back that old real rap feeling in an
updated, fresh and exciting way."
There's more, I'm sure. I've recently acquired a bit of an
attention-span disorder when it comes to music. Listening
to something for a very short time before letting it
collect dust and re-discovering a few months down the road.
