the closest altho quite far from gotan is
astor piazolla who did some amazing recordings on globestyle in the early
80's. i've got a live lp and its pure argentinian tango. and i mean
pure in an almost classical sense.
dont think les negres vertes quite live up to where gotan have taken
things. (no disrespect intended, i was a les negres fan in the mid-80's
and they rocked a new music seminar in new york once)
