How relevant, seeing as thursday (tomorrow, march 8) is
international Women's Day. Most of the DJ's at our
community station are doing all-female shows in honor, and
I hope other dj's also follow suit.
Well, off the top of my head, i'd have to say,
The Angel/60 Channels
Neotropic
Bebel Gilberto
lou rhodes (of Lamb)
And under the heading of 'usually a vocalist, but have also
released their own work', recently i'm digging Lisa Shaw
(Always... Always) and Ursula Rucker (Jazzanova remix of
Circe, anyone? - and the tracks which close out all of the
Roots albums are phenomonal spoken word works)
And female hip hop heads who are *totally*
under-appreciated:
Sonya Blade, T-Love, Medusa, Bahamadia, Tara Chase, Michie
Mee. (and turntablists DJ's Kuttin' Kandi and Shortee)
and for "r n" <bp3565@hotmail.com>, who's

How about the junglista, 1.8.7. ;)
(For those who don't know, 1.8.7 kicks out some seriously
hard and dark drum'n'bass the liquid Sky label - check out
the Cities Collection, released last year I think.
Junglelicious. AKA Jordana Lesesne, born Joe Lesesne.
Figure it out)
