    Hey Shawn,

I don't know that he's exactly a household name worldwide
yet, but growing up as I did in Ottawa, DJ Trevor had a
huge influence on my musical tastes. Actually, I can
pretty much trace the growth of my musical tastes down to
three DJ's in the Ottawa area who, mostly through their
community radio shows, totally warped my musical tastes
forever. They are Trevor Walker, El Karam (used to have a
hip hop show on CHUO), and Elorius Kane (sp? owner of a
local record store, and host of Canada's longest running
disco -- and i use that term loosely -- show, the Groove on
CKCU). Actually, they're pretty much the reason I got
involved in community radio - once I moved away from Ottawa
and couldn't find what I wanted on the local airwaves.

Anyways, last time i checked (I haven't lived in Ottawa for
a couple of years now), Trevor still had two shows on CKCU:
a house show on Wednesday nights, and a rare groove/acid
jazz show - The New Soul Collective - on saturday nights.
Listening to that show was a ritual for me every saturday
night before going out. I miss it. DJ Trevor's also held
down residencies in the best clubs in Ottawa, from the
Well, to the Mercury Lounge and Atomic, and I think he's
also getting into some production work, because I remember
seeing some 12" of his at Organised Sound (easily Ottawa's
best record store, IMHO)in Ottawa a few years back. Maybe
someone who's better connected with the ottawa scene can
give you more info. I kind of recall going to see a show
at Atomic one time, I think it might even have been LTJ
Bukem, but it could have been a ninja tune show also.
Anyways the headliners ended up being kind of boring (which
is probably why I can't remember exactly who they were),
and the best part of the evening was dancing in the
basement to Trevor and Max Graham (I think) spinning on
    four decks.

Actually that brings up a good point. I wonder if anyone
else has good stories about having been disappointed with
the headliners of a show, only to be surprised and
impressed by an opening or accompanying act... It's
happened to me more than a few times.
