    Notes:

~ Yowsa, it's been a hot and busy summer! Apologies to those who've
actually been at their offices, homes and computers long enough to
notice that I'd fallen behind with these playlists. It's been tough to
keep up given being in and out and in and out of town but heck, there's
been lots of fun in there while away. Hope the summer held similar times
    for you.

    ~ Here's the July 16 and 23 lists. July 30 and August 13 to follow. I
was out of town for Aug. 6, 20 and 27, but you can always follow the
'archived playlists' links above to see what Sudeep, Moonstarr and Mano
(PTR) and DJ Switch respectively had to play for ya'll.

~ Both of these shows, as well as the Aug. 13 and Sept. 3 programs can
be heard any time you like thanks to the folks at www.beats.to Follow
this link for direct access to the Mental Chatter archives:

Guest: LA creator The Angel was this weekís guest. We spoke loads about
her latest release, No Gravity, in fact the debut solo album from this
way talented producer, remixer, engineer, and vocalist. Sheís released
previous work under the project name of 60 Channels, as one third of Jaz
Klash (with More Rockersí Rob Smith and Peter D) and has remixed tons of
folks, ranging from Donald Byrd to DJ Food, Pharcyde and many others.
Have a listen to the interview for a sense of how she keeps it all
separateÖand together. The Angelís official site:

Pick of the Week: the Poets of Rhythm: Discern/Define (Quannum Projects
/ Ninja Tune) This contemporary German funk band blew my mind with the
"Guiding Resolution" 7" single, but this entire album is incredible,
showing a deep and broad understanding of funk. Originally inspired by
the Meters, the band has been playing and recording since the early
'90s. According to the gushing intro and history that Quannum's Lyrics
Born provides, it sounds like the Poets have matured a great deal.
Beautiful music, that's all I can say. This is their first worldwide
    release.

Pick of the Week: Fourtet: Pause (Domino) British producer and musician
Kieran Hebden gives us his second solo album and itís nothing short of
brilliant. Also the founder of post-rock trio Fridge, Hebden is creative
in his sounds and melodic in his experimentation, constantly erasing the
concept of musical genres. Oh yeah, heís got quite a sense of humour as
well. I canít say ënuff good stuff about his pairings of acoustic guitar
with bits, beeps and chilled beeps, but if youíve heard the remixes heís
done of artists like Cinematic Orchestra, Aphex Twin and 2 Banks of Four
then you have a sense of what Iím referring to. Fans of Torontoís own
Dan Snaith aka Manitoba (Leaf Label) take note ëcause Kieren is a source
of inspiration for, and now a frequent collaborator with, Dan.
