hey there everyone,
Just a little reminder about the very special glide tonight at Gypsy
Co-op (817 Queen St. W). Driving in from NYC for the evening is ism/Esho
Records' Swingsett, one of the most talented, versatile and musically
open minded DJ/producers to come out of the U.S. in my opinion. He's a
gifted mixer as well, beautifully blending everything from dub and
downtempto to nu jazz, broken beat, deep house, and drum & bass. Should
be an experience, and better still, we're keeping it free!
The fireplace will be lit for extra warmth and comfort. A dancefloor
will be cleared. Comfy couches for those who prefer to absorb while
seated.
lounge. dance. chill. do what'cha like.
Hope to see lots of you out tonight. Here's the full scoop as well as
details for coming events at glide. Thanks for your time and support! xo

DJ Swingsett: a brief bio
DJ'ing since 1992, Swingsett's roots lie in hip hop, rare funk, soul,
and acid jazz. From '95, he turned more heavily to drum 'n bass, deep
house, and nu-jazz, as a resident at influential weekly Konkrete Jungle
and as a Giant Step regular. Rated in the Top 100 International DJís by
both Bikini mag and Streetsound, Swingsett currently holds it down
weekly at d&b landmark Testpress and the deep house 'n broken beat
affair Freaky Deaky.
With DJ Wally, Swingsett released many wicked recordings on Ubiquity and
Liquid Sky. He later hooked up with J. Warrin (formerly of Slide 5) to
co-produce and found ism Records. Their recent Sights Unseen features
vocalist Lisa Shaw (Naked Music) and seamlessly moves through styles,
all with a heavy sub-bass hook. Their new deep house label, Esho
Recordings, features sweet releases by the likes of Julius Papp.
