This one hasn't been mentioned yet so I'll throw it in, the impromptu
all-star jam with Julie Dexter at Jazid on Tuesday. Bugz in the house,
everyone stopped playing records and came downstairs to experience what was
going on. Julie on vocals, the illest drummer and bassist from India Arie's
backing band (someone please post the drummer's name cuz he blew minds that
night), Kaidi working the Rhodes, the sax player and percussionist from
Local 12 (from Puerto Rico, in the studio with Seiji, watch for them). Crazy
intimate setting, all in attendance transfixed by what was going on (Bugz
crew and Vikter D head nodding on the couches). Julie got a little lost as
the set list fell away and the vibe just flowed, she came back with
freestyle scats and vocal phrasings that fit nicely with what was going on.
Throw in a trumpet player, a flute player, and another cat on electric bass
an you had crazy live broken beat folks, capped with another storming DJ set
by Seiji, Orin, et al. Phew!
Everyone I met at each event was the nicest and warmest person who had mad
love for the music, I guess I went to the right events. For a WMC virgin, my
first time was better than I coulda asked for...

I concur! As another person that put a little work in on promoting (if
not producing) the party and as featured dancer (I got my boogie on that
night and many others at WMC)
This Party was off the HIZZY!
