Last week the BEST KEPT gyals comprised of Dalia and myself (Venus) held =
our unofficial 8th Anniversary Show, banging out all the music that we =
loved over the years. The criteria for the 'choooon' moniker was based =
on what songs always prompt us to wax poetic over 'back in the day' on =
BEST KEPT. Not so surprisingly the playlist mostly leaned on the hip =
hop side of things, early to mid-nineties fashion, which we cite as our =
foundation music for alot of what we were exposed to (i.e. soul, =
'acid-jazz', etc.). Given that we had only 2 hours, that we had full =
stacks of wax, and we had surprise guests in the studio (big up Mister =
Richard Banton, always bringing the dubplate specials) we only cracked =

things we'll be at anyway)...

If you vanna go check some interesting poetry battle shit, make a point =
of heading out tomorrow night (Thurs Aug 29) to Hugh's Room (2257 Dundas =
St. W at Bloor). Performances by Fukerman, Nik Beat, Mark Rubinoff, =
Randy Resh, and a 'battle of the syntactic sexes' between OmarharisanG =
and Monica Kuebler. If that weren't enough, be prepared for a good ol' =
fashioned slam with Jemini, Peter Rintoul, Rob Sicilano, Jay Dennie, and =
the incomparable Sunny D. The mayhem will be captured on camera for a =
CD-ROM compilation to be released later this year. $8 at the door with =
all proceeds going to make the CD-ROM happen.=20

Of course, In Divine Style always rockin it at the Hooch (815 Queen St. =
W, above Gypsy Co-Op). Performances by the Asylum Maniacs and The =
Embassy. Guest DJ Lupan on the wheels of steel. The infamous open mic =
session follows the liveness. Mindbender hosting and Alexis running =
tings on the usual...dope dope night! Only $3 before 11 PM, $5 after. =
Mindbender's 'Fantasyland Before Time' soon come, and by all accounts, =
the shit is hot!!!=20

On Friday (Aug 30), express your frustration at being a cog and =
breathing bad air in the city with joining the 5th annual Reclaim the =
Streets party happening at Bellevue/Denison Square in Kensington Market, =
just north of Augusta and Dundas. Sounds provided by the fabulous Miss =
KLC and No Capitalista, with live performances by the Palenke Orchestra, =
Hidden Cameras, and The Biters. Special surprise guests too! All free =
