After an agonisingly long wait, Counterpoint Records are delighted to
    announce the release of:

Fertile Ground's new album: 'Seasons Change'
(available on CD & limited edition double vinyl direct from us!!!)

Following last year=B9s highly acclaimed =8CPerception=B9 album, Fertile Ground
are back with another classic album that will heal your woes, uplift your
spirit, and have you grooving to their deeply funky hybrid of jazz-fuelled
    soul. =20

As with their previous album,=8CSeasons Change=B9 comprises entirely of
original music, played mostly live with the kind of organic energy rarely
heard these days. Composer/keyboardist/bandleader, James Collins is less
concerned with technical skill or stylistic conventions, and more with
creating a natural vibe and breaking down the musical boundaries enforced
by a cynical music industry (the =8CCulture Bandits=B9 as they are referred to
in one of the album tracks!)

You might recall the jazzy 2 step single, =8CTake Me Higher=B9 (voted one of
the top 50 tracks of 2001 by listeners of Gilles Peterson=B9s =8CWorldwide=B9
show), or if you were lucky enough to catch their awe-inspiring live set at
London=B9s =8CJazz Cafe=B9 last year, you would have heard the dirty-dozen New
Orleans style brass funk of =8COne Mo Gin=B9 and the catchy latin-soul
leading-into the heated descarga of =8CDance=B9.
     =20
Lyrical and melodic content are what makes Fertile Ground=B9s music so
    universal. Songs like =8CThe Moment=B9 and =8CMore 2 Life=B9 owe much to the spiri=
    t
of Stevie Wonder and Leon Ware, respectively, yet the end results are
firmly rooted in their spiritual approach to soul/jazz that is connecting
with a fast-growing following around the World.
    =20
Fertile Ground always bring joy and passion to their gumbo of soul, jazz=
    ,
and Afro/Caribbean roots. And with the gorgeous voice of Navasha Daya (a
cosmic-queen of soul) delivering their message of peace, love and unity, al=
    l
doubt and cynicism are firmly squashed against the wall.
